Dielectric Fluid Assessment and Dissolved Gas Analysis

Conducting annual transformer oil sampling and testing is essential for detecting any potential issues early on and helps in identifying changes in oil quality before a failure occurs.

The DGA has long been the most reliable and accurate method for determining the internal health of oil-filled transformers. The analysis requires drawing an oil sample from the unit, extracting the gasses from the sample, and analyzing the gasses at accredited facilities which will identify:

Oil Degradation
By identifying signs of degradation, necessary corrective actions can be taken. This may include oil purification, replacement of contaminated oil, or other maintenance measures to restore the oil's properties.

Metal Contamination
Metal contamination can indicate issues such as internal arcing or wear of transformer components. Addressing this promptly can prevent further damage to the transformer.
